Roof Association
is a non-governmental organization based in southern Albania, working to promote art, culture, local traditions, and sustainable tourism for stronger and more inclusive communities. Established in 2014 by a group of university professors with initiatives to bridge the gap between tradition and innovation, focusing on research, environmental protection, and the sustainable use of local resources to drive social and economic growth.

Earth Hour 2026
The ROOF Association undertook a series of activities in Tirana on the occasion of Earth Hour 2026.
The project EARTHYOUTH Starts!
ROOF has started to implement the project “Green Wave Tirana: Youth Leading Earth Hour & Climate Action“, acronym EARTHYOUTH, co-funded by the European Union on the framework of the program GearUP of the AIE – Adriatic-Ionian Euroregion.
Project LAERTES
Partner project under the Interreg IPA South Adriatic promoting a multifaceted and intermodal cross-border mobility strategy for the Lower Adriatic region, relying on the constitution of an innovative and strategic “legal” entity and the implementation of 3 Pilot Actions enhancing regional connectivity.
3P – People, Planet, Profit (2013–2015)
Partner project under the Erasmus+ programme promoting sustainable development through education, social responsibility, and civic engagement.
Be the Change: Write a New Page (2014–2016)
An Erasmus+ youth project fostering creativity, cultural exchange, and community participation through writing and storytelling.
"Democracy 2020" 2015–2017
An Erasmus+ initiative encouraging democratic values, inclusion, and youth participation across European communities.
Improving Tourism through Cultural Heritage in Gjirokastër
A local initiative promoting art, culture, and alternative tourism. Activities included monthly cultural events, artist networking, and the creation of innovative touristic products.
SMARTiMONY (Interreg IPA CBC)
Supporting stakeholders in remote areas to strengthen innovation in tourism through heritage-based investment and creative industries.
CheeseCult (Interreg IPA CBC)
Cross-border project connecting local cheese producers in Gjirokastër (Albania) and Ioannina (Greece). Promoted regional products and developed a “Cheese Route” to attract gastronomic tourism.
